Anyone ever have any trouble with a snell knot tied to a flipping hook? I tied up several with mono and it looks like it could come unraveled if it got roughed up just right.

Nope, if tied right, it seldom breaks, and always go in on the side the hook point is on

Well, I never use one on a flipping hook, but the ones I use on a EWG are good. So good, in fact, that when I try to retie them I have a hard time cutting it off the shank with my Rapala clippers. I can cut the loops in several different spots and the knot will still not come off. I usually have to cut the knot down the length of the shank to get it to eventually unravel. I truly think the knot is as strong as the line rating. Bad thing is....it doesn't work on my flipping hooks because of the bait keeper barbs are too close to the eye and when I use it on EWG hooks it tears up the nose of the bait. It makes it too thick for the plastics.

A lot of the videos will tell you to mash down the keeper barbs on the shank of the hook so they do not impact the knot. Never had a problem on any straight shank flippin hook and a smell knot.

Why are you using mono with a flipping hook? That hook would imply an application in which braid is needed imho

With the size of flippin hooks it's hard for me to imagine using mono! But then again I don't have much experience with the larger mono.

I use 3 knots .... the snell is the only one I use flipping and depending on application I use all 3 lines throughout the season
