Howdy yall,
finally have two days off in a row this weekend and I'm looking to venture out of DFW and try a new lake. Looking to practice my offshore game. Have some flutter spoons and big tungsten in the mail. Toledo Bend is too far. Anyone have any reports from Tri-Lakes, Quitman, Winnsboro, Palestine? Are you guys finding fish in 8-15, 15-25, or 25+ fow?

You can find fish out deep on those lakes but like stated above, they tend to be shallower. Fork is the best bet around those lakes with all the humps and roadbeds, bridges, deep brush piles, etc. Monticello has a good deep bite at times too with the hot water. Go to the intake on the main lake side and you can catch fish on big cranks, drop shots, maybe even the spoon.

Sandlin can also have a good deep bite. I would stay away from Cypress as it isnt fishing all to well and with the recreational crowd you wont be able to stay out deep without having a bad time

A few weeks ago the only thing I could get to take the spoon on Monticello were the catfish. But it may have changed again with all three stacks running. The intake, and if they are pumping water in from SANDLIN, the dam bite was fun last summer around this time! Big sppoons for bigger fish, drop shots and medium sized for schoolers.
They were just finicky on me, another boat at the dam did pretty girl is on a c-rig, just a different color than mine!

Thanks guys. Might just do Fork again per advice above. Anyone doing any good? Does the time of day and weather effect this deep bite much?

Caught some healthy slot fish off Wolf in 28-30 fow and off the hump out by the boat lane off Wolf last Saturday. Most came off Spoons, but some came off dead stinking big Zoom flukes in disco violet
