I want to put together a pitching rod and reel and was thinking of a 7' abu veritas rod and a quantum accurist reel, would this be a decent setup and could I also use this as a frog setup as well?

I have an Accurist. It isn't bad....just isn't good either. Haha. It is finicky and hard to adjust from bait weight to bait weight. I also have a bunch of Lews Team Pros. Night and day easier to adjust, I just don't like wrenching on them with braid and heavy tungsten weights. Flipping slop is abusive on gear, at least for me, so I use a cheap reel. Funny thing? It's mounted on a Megabass rod. A combo most would never imagine. Lol.

ok thanks for the info, so the veritas rod would be a good choice? I have been looking at the lews pro reels but heard good things about the quantum reels and for it being a bit cheaper I wanted to go that route, however if the lews is better I'll go with that.

I have also been using a cheaper reel for my flipping. The braid along with the horrible stress that I put on the rod and reel can't be good for either. I switch out my flipping reel every 6 months.
