Those of you who use jug lines, how are you positioning the hook? Are you running the main line down through a egg sinker and then to a swivel, with a leader and a hook? This is what I have commonly seen and have been doing the last few times out.

Reason I am asking, is the noodles I put together have the sliding weight internally to "flag" when a fish is on them. Caught 7 fish yesterday and not a single one of them "flagged"

I was thinking about running the main line down to the weight and using a dropper leader for the hook positioning it between the noodle and the weight. So that way any movement will cause the jugs to "flag" and keep the bait just up off of bottom instead of dragging behind the weight on bottom.

Or am I over thinking this?

Got about 12' of main line right now and about a 18" leader and am fishing in the 10-12' depth yesterday Too deep? Too Shallow for this time of year?

I have the weight on the bottom of the main line, then I attach three 12" leaders spaced about 3' apart with trot line clips at what ever depth that I want the the bait. I only set them with three hooks because I don't want a bunch of hooks in the boat to get tangled around, or in my leg if a big fish decides to go back to the bottom.

I never thought about using the trot line clips like that before Would be an easy way to add additional hooks for sure.

For my main line I am using 50 lb mono, so I may have to change that up for the clips

I do mine like this with 5 to 8ft of line. I like mine to drift with the wind/current in order to cover more area. I only use one hook per noodle. I guess there are many ways to do it but this is what works for me. I always stay in sight of my noodles so I can go chase them when they stand up.
