They were suspended at 10-12 ft in 18-20 feet of water on standing timber at Pines last weekend. Gonna give Martin creek a try tomorrow. Will report.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the responses, sounds like their holding in 12 to 14 ft. I have been catching some under my dock in about 6 to 7 feet, but not a whole lot. thanks again.

One of the strangest phenomenon's I've seen is crappie at Lake Eufaula in OK at this time of year. They will be stacked up in the creeks in 3' to 5' of water. Go from tree to tree, or brush and catch them all day long dipping a jig next to them.

Still catching them in 8-10 feet on Lavon, but I'm sure that won't last much longer.

Surface Water temp is 86-88 degrees. Everyone slowly goes deeper through the summer looking for the Comfort zone.

Not all crappie go deep during the Summer. I have caught good fish in July in 1.5'-4' on 2 different lakes around here. Although, I do believe the lakes need to be at a steady level for this pattern.

What if your lake is, at it's deepest, 8 feet deep.... Seriously, I have a private neighborhood lake that is super shallow throughout a bunch it, I'm talking .5 to 3 feet deep, BUT it has a creek channel that's very narrow say sometimes 3 feet wide, sometimes 7 feet wide, and around 6 feet deep, and at the opposite end there's a flat about 8 feet deep. I've also found a few "holes", if you will, that go from sharply from 3 feet to 6 feet and back, they seem to be near old timber stumps, and they are maybe 15 to 20 feet around. To boot, NO ONE fishes this lake.... but me. Everytime I float over one, they seem very active on my fish finder and I know for a fact that my wife pulled an easy 2 lb crappie in a shallow area using a tiny rebel wee craw. I went out yesterday and tried a road runner grub combo but had no luck with that, but I did finally find a grandma bass who struck so viciously she almost pulled the rod out of hand. I would love to learn some techniques for targeting these crappie. The lake and launch is so shallow I had to buy myself a little 10 foot pond boat and 30lb trolling motor just for this lake, but it totally works and it's stealthy as can be.
