I've never been out to fork, I've heard so many good things about it I want to go out there. I've heard about all the trees and don't know where to drive to avoid hitting them. Where are good places to go and what is good to use.

Main boat lanes are marked with buoys. Can buy boat lane talks at boatlanes.com. Not real hard to learn to navigate the lake

If first time on the lake I would suggest coming off pad anytime your not in a boat lane... Treat the boat lame as a highway... Don't come off pad in the middle of the boat lane and pay attention to your surroundings. Right now I would say you can catch fish in all depths of the lake.
