Released this big guy today, 10.75 inches caught on the Lampasas. When I first hooked it I thought it was a bass. I believe it is a Redear but as the name implies, there is no red ear.

Yessir that is a redear aka shellcracker, those things get huge, like 5-6 lbs big.

Nice redear! Have to ask, where on the Lampasas? I fished Sulpher Creek yesterday, but when I crossed over The Lampasas in Kempner it was looking pretty rough still.

It was below Stillhouse dam, they aren't releasing any water so it's calm and clear right now

I went down there today, they opened up Stillhouse dam and the water was high and fast, not a good combo for fly fishing, only caught a few longears

What fly is that? Looks like you caught it on the surface. But that guy made you think it was a bass!

It's a popper, the way it exploded when it hit was very bass like and what a fight!
