So I've used circle hooks and recently posted about catching bigger cats and got some advice. The advice was to use 6/0 or greater circle hooks, went to Wal-Mart to get some and they didn't have any so I ended up buying 7/0 Kahle hooks because they were the closest thing to a circle hook at that store.
My question is: What are yalls opinions on the two types of hooks??

multiple rods and cats grabbing and turning with a circle hook cant be beat. Even eater cats can grab them. Being I grew up setting the hook the others will work. everything has a time and place, trial by error or easier to ask on the Enet like your doing. that being said I have one hook in my Box #8 Mustad.(circle)

I've bought other hooks in the past out of a lack of options, as you just did. Others will work but circle hooks are the best. I would suggest planning ahead and either buying online or taking the time to go to a store that has what you need. Never rely on walmart

Listen to Loco...he is a red neck sob but knows his stuff..he helped me tremendously in the spring targeting shallow blues...I use #8 team catfish double action circle in red..I also use #7 diechi circle chunk light in red, and mustad octopus circle #8...I like the offset eye on mustad and owner #8 so I can snell knot my hooks better...I catch half pound blues on those big ol hooks...buy them on the Internet and get them in the large quantity boxes...u r going to need a bunch!

Setting rods in rod holders, circles all day. I like the TC Double Action or Daiichi Circle for cut bait. I like Gamakatsu Oct Circle for live bait. Between 3/0-8/0 dependent of my bait size and the presentation. Punch bait #6 treble. #4 in some cases. If I am holding the rod or not relying on a fish to set the hook itself, I like either a Khale, Eagle Claw 84 or 42. Also size matches bait.
