5/24- Fished from 3:30 till about 7:30PM today. Had some small fish on a Texas rigged craw pitching shallow docks 4' or less. When they hit they really hit it though. Also had a few halfhearted bites on a buzzbait with biggest 2-3lbs on it. Best fish of the day came on a frog and was maybe 5lbs. Same deal not a real aggressive bite. Pretty much felt like I was a step behind all afternoon and never got them dialed in. Water looks great and lake was not crowded at all. The wind made it seem a bit cooler than it was. Not a bad way to spend a few hours.

Mark I was on the lake Tuesday 7:00-1:30 found some nice chunks in 7-10 foot on points schooling, soft plastics and a Rico popper. Some nice tournament fish and slots mixed in. I actually had a fun day, there was a lull from 10-12:30 looking for deeper fish, finally found some that would bite in 16-20 foot, I was marking some nice schools in 24-30 ft but couldn't get them to bite.. C-rig, Sebile tail spinner, D/S no good... moved back shallow and found them again.. Your right the water looks good, big wads of shad in my cove..LOL ...FYI

Stick with the frog....and cover lots of grass. 5/25- That was my intent as I headed out this morning. Started off pretty slow. Had a bite on a swimjig as well as a 5" swimbait. Since they were not eating the frog this morning I went a little "old school" and remembered how much post spawn Fork bass like a regular old blue fleck Power Worm Texas rigged with a 3/8oz weight. Starting getting some small keeper and dink bites on shallow docks and timber. Blue fleck works year round on Fork but something about that little worm in that color that just appeals to post spawn fish there. I knew I needed to get back to getting the frog bite going so right around 11:00 I finally figured out what to look for and my day took a good turn. Its a real particular type deal they are on frog wise but when they hit they would absolutely inhale it as you can see in the pictures. All the frog fish today ate it like that. When they would jump while fighting them you would not even see the frog. Ended the day with some good slot fish and had a great time. Biggest today was maybe 5ish again and it came on the frog. Decent numbers too but you gotta keep moving till you find what you need. Its safe to say they are not eating all over the lake....

Thanks.

Nice report Mark. Which frogs do you like the best? I use the Megabass Pony Gabot a lot but when they want a bigger frog than that I use the Optimum Furbit that I modify by adding silicone strands for legs instead of the fur they come with. The last 3 years it seems the natural frog color of the Furbit has been the best color on Fork I have used. The 6/0 hooks help keep them pinned too. Great frog but hard to call any the best. The trusty old Spro gets some work too.
