Piscatorial Assassin, we had two boats leave an area we were catching fish on the report that I gave a few days ago with pics - the wade spot and then drift spot - because they were NOT catching anything ... 1st at the wade spot and then when we were drifting one of my fav big trout spots. Sometimes the fish are there but LITTLE things make a BIG difference between 'fishing' and 'catching' and like I ALWAYS say: " Fishing is Fun, but catching is more FUN !!!"
Report from the WadeFish Rockport angler last Thurs. that I posted the report and the pics of those two flounder and red he caught late Thursday evening when he got to town was that he lost several flounder and was broke off twice by redfish. He went back to same spot Fri. morning ... nada. What was gonna be a 'slam dunk' on Friday morning turned out to be a tough fishing day as he went from the grass lines to reefs searching for that kinda action again.
The difference was the hard outgoing tide and the moonrise the evening before and the wind & SaltH20 temps. dropping quick had the fish moving right as that northern was hitting us.
Weather patterns have something to do with our fishing - so right now ya gotta make your adjustments - sometimes almost daily !!!
This pic is from a WadeFish Rockport angler this weekend and it tells me a lot.
"Time spent with your son admiring and being a part of Mother Nature is priceless ... the fish will be strung soon enough."

Grinder and Pat. I was thinking of trying to get down a few days week after next. May i ask what yall think of fishing after alk the rain. Grinder, i bought ur wade fishing info a few years ago. A house move has me unable to find it at the moment. Im thinking of cancelling re the fresh water. I had wanted to wzde fish at Bayside as i did as a highschool kid in the 60s but i figure the freshwater has ruined that.
Pat, ive also been dealing with trying to get a good bc scorer to take and measure my 252 inch muley from north of Monahans last Dec.
Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish, he will sit in a boat all day and drink beer.

hey there eyeball.
Don't let a little rain keep ya from coming fishing. Our bay system has plenty of Trout Green water to wade fish.
For example, Copano Bay has been producing and was written up in an article in the Rockport Pilot by a local guide as one of his tips on hot spots to fish.
I have been having good luck on all the spots I have been fishing and I move around some to to see "what's up" in a certain bay so I know what's going on there.
Only thing that has been keeping from fishing some locations is the wind - not the rain.
That sunset is a pretty cool pic ... here is another one of a spot I call Rex's Island, ... I have fished it all my life and it has produced great fishing and awesome sunsets quite often over the years.

Another really good thing about wade fishing is just how close you can get to and become a part of nature.
Here are a two of pics recently taken of some birds - a Reddish Egret and a couple of Blue Herons - from some areas I wade fish here in Rockport.
I have found over the years, that the more I "get lost" in nature and become more comfortable and "a part" of nature, ... then that's when the fishing becomes catching.

Good trout action on incoming tide right now. Tide has been really moving around the 10 am time period and that's when we had our best action of the day.
HS exchange student, Konstantin Sonntag from Lake Constance, Germany got in on some good trout action with his feet wet in some Texas SaltH20.
I had a BLAST teaching this young man how to WadeFish Rockport !!!
We each caught around 15 - 20 trout each and culled the keepers out of'em. Good action all morning with 22" trout being the top dog strung.

Have a7' medium rod with baitcaster, 50lb braid and floro leader, bought some jig heads and spoons have a few plastics. Just not sure where to go? Any suggestions on where or what to throw? Thanks in advance.

Doing a little trout scouting this morning and saw this 'nature scene' that held several things we talk about when planning a fishing trip.
Tide, moon phase and structure.
Structure is the visible reef surrounded by grass beds that you can see the tops of the grass at various spots in the water.
Moon phase is starting its decent in the west, I'd rather have it over my head or on the eastern horizon at sunrise.
Tide Phase is starting it's high tide phase and can actually be seen since the tide is rolling in against very light SE wind.
The only thing absent at this location is bait - didn't see much bait.

Any reports on how the bite has been of late? Are people finding trout or reds more north or south of Rockport? Going with my family for our 26th annual trip and would like to have an idea of where to start! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hey there FishWrangler2.
Been busy with Charters and we have been taking them to the upper laguna for trout action, but I did some personal wade fishin' this morning and, - just as I figured - the redfish are starting to stage in the back bays around here in Rockport.
Threw back three 19 3/4" reds before I strung one, so it's redfish for supper.
Good action this morning until tide stopped.
