Does anyone use the 5050 green led strip lights for night fishing. Just wondering if they are bright enough. I have always just used a high beam headlight but thought I might switch. Thanks!

If you fish ion a boat, can't beat the LED strips on the sides of the boat. Can't see them during the day and they will definitely bring int he bait fish. I've driven into coves loaded with bait, flipped on the lights and trolled/herded 100's of them them to where I wanted to fish.

Is there a certain area or structure to fish at night with lights?

When installing these lights on the outside of the boat, how do you run the wires into the boat? Do you drill a hole to run it inside? I want to install LEDs like that on mine, but I just get anxiety when thinking about drilling holes in the side of my boat to run these wires.

I am going to mount them on a 1 x 2 and just hang them over the side when I go night fishing.
Scooter79 I like to fish under bridges next to a change in depth or in open water on the deep side of a humnp or point. I use crappie jigs tied 5 in a line about 14" apart.

I installed them on inside and outside of my boat. Just make sure you order the ones for a 12v system. Install an inline fuse and switch and your good to go. I didnt drill used small black tube and ran wires thru it. Looks just like transducer cable on back of my boat

Cigga You can get them on-line in diffferent lengths with 3m sticky tape on them. I bought some 3m5200 marine epoxy at Academy. Decide where you want to start at the back. Drill a small hole in the rubrail to run the wires inside the 2 piece rub rail. Pull the paper off the tape a little at a time, every 4 inches. put a dab of 3m5200 and press under the rubrail. The sticky tape will hold it long enough for the 3m5200 to set up. Then run the wires inside the rubrail to the transom and drill another small hole to run the wires out and into the rigging tube through the transom area inside the hull. Connect wires from each side inside the hull, and run to a toggle switch. I did mine like this last year and have had no trouble at all and they attract a lot of bait and fish. The GW will stop you if you run them while under way. Ask how I know this.

There's my rig. It has 5050 LED's on the inside and outside. I drilled holes in the hull at the front to pass the wires through. Drilling a hole in the hull of my less than 1yr old boat was one of the toughest decisions I've ever made. I went thru closer to the bow because that is the driest area of my hull, and I didn't want wiring running around the stern and over the transom, I could just see that getting torn up somehow. I used 3M black weatherstrip adhesive to stick mine to the underside of the gunnel extrusion, and a little over 2yrs later they are still holding fine. My suggestion is, and most people have them mounted this way, to put them on the under side of the gunnel pointed downward, not on the side of the boat pointing outward. You'll get better light penetration into the water, and the lights will be less offensive to other boaters. On the GW stopping you while running them at night, my experience was different. I got checked at Tawakoni just the week before last at about 10pm. A buddy and I had just left the fishin hole headed back to the ramp when the GW lit us up. Yeah, they were being sneaky and crept up on us in the dark. I had just gotten on plane when he lit my buddy up (who was behind me), so i just stopped and waited my turn. After they checked all the safety gear, licenses, and fish, I asked them about me running my LED's while underway. Their opinion, and they did say that every warden might have a different opinion on the matter, was that since mine were mounted in such a way that they could still see my navigation lights, they didn't see how mine were an issue. If they were mounted in such a way that they over-powered the nav lights, he said I would have gotten cited for them. Made perfect sense to me.
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space!

Man! Lucky for you. One of the Gw here is not a very amicable person. He is the one who told me to turn them off while under way. Mine are pointed down straight toward the water too. Mounted on the bottom of the rub rail. I even put extra nav lights on the bar over my center console so they would be visible.

I have a 4-5 foot florescent green light; it is a true green light bulb. I like it better than the LED. (I have those too) the shad just seem more relaxed. I also get more soup plankton and such using a true green light. The LED does work. The link is from a YouTube post I made a couple of years ago of the true florescent green light. Amazing amount of bait and yes you will limit when you draw this much bait.Just copy and paste. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UH8lsL5GnEYHere is a comparison video green light on the left LED on the right. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOSYUTl555k
