I tried some trimmed and untrimmed. I had no trouble either way, with hooking even little fish.

Whaler15, I made the jigs that are pictured at the first of this post (regular head w/o spinner), after seeing the weedless spinner jig you are referring to. I believe those can be purchased from here:
