Hey guys, I recently noticed that I had a fuel oil mixture leaking in to my splashwell from my 99 Mercury 200 EFI. I've only had this boat for a year and the oil injection was already disconnected when I got it. I'm not sure if this is part of that system or not but I fired the boat up on muffs this morning and I was getting a pretty good amount of fuel/oil in a fine spray out of this nipple. Just wondering if anyone can tell me what it's for and if it should be capped? Or if I have another issue? Thanks!

bleed nipple... look above it and should be a "T" that ties into a similar nipple and continues on up to tha next "T"... it then ties into another that will tie into tha vst and continues on across tha top of tha reed plate and down tha other side with "t's" that do tha same thing...most laser efi's have a small, "one way" in-line filter in tha bleed system right before it goes into tha vst (kinda on top of tha reed plate) which makes identifing tha "bleed system" easier.... below is a manual that will have your motor in it which will have tha bleed diagram.... http://boatinfo.no/lib/mercury/manuals/105and140jet-135-150-175-200-225.html#/0

Ok thanks, I'll pull that manual up when I get home. Does that mean something is wrong if it is spraying fuel out of there? I wouldn't think that is normal obviously.

doin' what its supposed to.... thats why tha whole bleed system ties back inta tha vst for collection... idle and low rpm fuel will "puddle" in front of tha reeds and that's tha way its "returned" to tha fuel system.....

Looks like it's missing a hose. yeah, it is... brain fart, left that part out... might be hangin' on tha "t" right above it....after thinkin' 'bout it yours being a '99 tha hose for that bib may come under tha plenum from tha bottom "t" on tha oppsite side instead of from above......

Thanks for all the help! Found the house laying in the bottom of the cowl and running to the other side. It split about 1/2" or so and allowed it to come off. Was just enough left on it to reuse it after cutting the split end off!

Better replace all of them with new hose.

Yeah they all actually looked pretty good so I'll keep an eye on it and see what happens.

Yeah they all actually looked pretty good so I'll keep an eye on it and see what happens. There is a pretty good chance that tho's overflow lines are either OEM or apart of a fuel line upgrade and have been in service the same amount of time, and since you have already experienced a failure you can expect some degradation throughout the remaining portions of that same assembly as well. Leaking fuel inside your cowling isn't anything to take lightly and for no more than it would cost I would consider replacing it. Better safe than sorry.

that particular part of tha puzzle is actually too short from merc ta start with considering tha "bend" it has ta make... that bend and motor movement/vibration is what causes tha split.. shorter makes it worse... a quick stop at a small motor (lawn mower) or motorcycle shop and done... 1/8" id stock or tygon will work and lots cheaper than merc....
