Did not make it out there at Miller, instead, went to Lake Arlington. No crappies in the creek yet, just female sand bass.
Good stringer MrDang.

Good to know and yes timing is everything Kung Fu Jimmy. Thanks for the insight! With all this rain
it should definitely help things along. Hopefully we can get some good temperatures to go with that moving water. fish

Almost 4 ft high and flooding a bit. The fish should now be all over the creek. Fire wheel should be kicking now.

Yesterday my dad was on Fork and caught some Magnum sandies. Made mine on Sat look like dinks. They were beating the side of the boat. I have seen striper guides do the same. I understand that the sandies may be skidish in these creeks, but do you think that thrashing the water or making some noise will get a school excited or move your way if they are in a big pool?

Seems to not be the case in the creeks. Keep in mind, they are about 30ft above those fish in the lakes when they are thumping. On the other hand, they are still fish, and they are attracted to vibrations in the water. If it's muddy, a lure that puts out good vibrations like a Blue Fox Vibrax does well.

Thrashing the water will only scare the fish away. It's hard to catch these fish if you throw a bait over 1/8oz because it'll make too much noise when it hits the water. Creek sandies are all about light tackle and light line, the stealthier you can be, the more fish you will catch.

The beating on the boat thing is usually done with an aluminum boat and a rubber mallet. I've heard of some people doing it with success. I think thrashing the top water would be a little much. They do sense when something flops into the water like a lure and look to see what it was, similar to dropping pellets in a fish tank. Anything bigger would be abnormal and probably scare them.

Those fish are in 40ft of water so beating the bottom the boat can get then excited. Do that in the creek and you will come home with a empty stringer. Like stated you have to scale down your tackle for these creek sandies. I see people throwing big baits with 15 lb test line. Creek fishing is finesse fishing at it's best.

There is enough information about RC than any other creek on here. Google Maps helps.

There is likely creeks that are just as good, that are a closer drive for you. Rowlett is the closest for me. If Hickory Creek off Lake Lewisville was closer, I would fish it instead of Rowlett. If Lavon dam was closer, I would be there.

If Joe Pool, Lake Arlington, or Mountain Creek have a good white bass population those creeks might be closer for you, less crowded and just as good fishing.

I think it would also be really cool to fish the creeks of Fork or Tawakoni. Likely bigger fish, but I don't want to drive. Or the Red River below Texoma.

But if you make it out there, welcome, and good luck.
