What do you guys think of these? I thought about pre weighting my senkos when I inject them. This way they do not torn up before I even set the hook on a fish. Any input or other ideas?

I would think that the lead inside would still tear up the baits. I plan to use larger amounts of glass bead media. Makes the baits more durable and makes the colors pop much better than salt.

I want this wacky style
Glad you ask. They make a steel ring to slide the senko through. It adds weight also but you have to put the hook through the ring which places the hook in a horizontal position (side ways). If there was a ring inside the senko and laying down in a horizontal position then your hook when placed through the bait would be in a vertical position with the point up. Your hook up ratio goes way up when the the point of the hook is up.
Hope that is as clear as mud. Ha.. To keep the ring from sliding inside the mold you would need a very thin peg to drop the ring over, like a needle, then put the other half of the mold on and screw it down.
Injecting material into a two sided mold will push your weights as pictured or a ring as I mentioned to one end. So it would have to be secured some way to keep it in the center of the mold. Of course a nail type weight is better to be used in one end of the bait and not in the center.
I have had great success throwing a senko with a nail in one end; but I have always wanted one with the ring inside the bait in the center.

Txmedic be extremly careful with the glass beads when I use them I wear a full face resprator, they can be haz to your health. Now to the OP my though is you would lose alot of weights, that may what is causing you bubbles. But keep trying new ideas.

Putting the weights in is really easy and the way I do it they stay in place when you shoot the plastic without any type of retaining clip or anything. As far as the bubble, I did not have enough plastic in the injector when I shot them and did not top off the sprew so they bubbled a little but it was just for an experiment. I really want to try the ring idea because I fish senkos wacky rig about 90% of the time I'm fishing a senko so that would be great if I can make it work. I'll make it work it will just take some time. This way you could tail weight and middle weight them too. I know that Big Bite Baits makes a stick bait that has a rubber O ring in the middle of the baits to keep it from tearing as easy when rigging it wacky rig but I've never seen it weighted in any way.

I have always used a small piece of heat shrink tubing for wacky worming. Just move it to the center of your senko and hit it w/ a lighter for a couple seconds. You can catch quite a few fish w/o tearing up the worm as long as you only hook the tubing and not the worm.

I would be willing to invest to help someone develop this mold to pour the ring inside. If Coach is interested just let me know.

The way I do it there is no need for a new mold but I do need a different weight other than the Lake Fork Tackle one. It's to big to be inside of the senko. I'm looking for something that is oval in shape and has a whole in the middle of it or can be drilled. I'm thinking the stick on suspension weights might do the trick so I'm going to pick some up this weekend and try them out and see. I'll post pictures when I get some done.

Need a lead bar about 1/4" wide and 1/8" thick maybe 6" long so I can cut it up into the sizes I want and drill a whole in it then put it in the mold and shoot it. I'm thinking the lead strip from a marker buoy would be easy to cut and drill into what I want. That might be the easiest.

Unless you coat the lead with something, you will find it turns your bait white around where the lead is after a while. Is it really so hard to stick a nail weight into a senko while you're fishing? You'll lose the bait before the weight tears it up or falls out.

Would you consider the steel rings that Academy sells?

To me they are a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.

I realize that it's not hard to push a nail weight into the worm while you are fishing those comments are pretty silly in my opinion. I'm looking to be able to fish senkos the way I love to do and weight them like I like to weight them and make them last a little longer than what they do sometimes. Weighting them in the middle and that weight would also help the senko not tear in the middle as easily because the hook would go through the weight and help not to throw them off the hook.
Thanks for the information on the lead bleaching the plastic. The steel rings are a great idea also. I wonder what you could coat the lead with to keep it from bleaching the plastic, might be worth it to me. Where are the steel rings that Academy carries, where at in the fishing department?

Last time I bought the rings they were hanging with the Wacky hooks. You will also see the lead rings that have a whole in them to put the hook through so it rides in the upright position; but I sling a lot of these off and the hook up ratio is terrible because you have to use a larger gap hook.
I believe just a flat washer the right size for your mold would also work for this application.
