roflmao No kidding!! At the rate it is falling I think we would be lucky to be under 10 ft high by March.

Good to know. Thanks!

Concern is a little late. The 3 gas wells at the South end of FM 2499 bridge include at least one spur running beneath the upper end of the lake bed in the direction of Guyer High School. [There is a gas well at SE side of Guyer High School near tennis courts.] More wells are planned at the FM 2499 site and drilling has been delayed because of the reduced price of natural gas.

For the record, I'm not concerned about it. The chances of any contamination are extremely remote. Plus, with the gas prices, I don't see much drilling going on around here for a while.

I was just making a joke about the water levels at Grapevine.

Seriously, if you live in Grapevine, I'm not going to complain if you run your sprinklers 24/7.

The Frac fluid is all flowed back when the well starts producing. Even at that it's 99% water mixed with a guar plant that is the same bean gum is made out of. The rest are house hold chemicals. Like I said everything is flowed back. The only way for any type of issue would be from a surface spill of some sort IE a truck turning over or a hose on the pad busting. These risk are the same risk as getting into a car wreck in a creek and leaking 8 gallons of antifreeze into a creek. Car accidents actually account for more environmental damage every year then the fracturing process.

I'm more wondering about the seismic activity this could stir up. My thing is why play with fire when it comes to the lewisville dam...

If they would run their sprinklers also, I would appreciate it.

I'm sure there are methods mandated for ensuring environmental safety. Just saw this news article on the WFAA website, and the problem is when drillers don't comply with those mandates. That's where I've got a problem. Not so much with the drilling as with the oversight and the regulations enforcement. Looks to me like the Texas Railroad Commissioner is in the Oil and Gas companies' back pocket - and yes I k is that's not news.

I suggest folks read the linked article before weighing in.

There has been 0 evidence to tie this type of process to seismic activity. In the eagleford at its peak last year over 1500 wells were hydraulically fraced every year. Zero increased of seismic activity. North texas lies on large fault line the Ouchita Tectonic plate. With or without fracing north texas has high seismic activity. This fault collides with the mexia fault line right around the Irving area, which the highest activity for north texas. Since this process is being done in very low permeability shale formations, is has no correlation to any seismic activity.

However waste water injection wells could be a very likely candidate to some of the shallow fault disturbances.

Liberal website with liberal agenda.
If fracking was bad it would be banned by the government...Of course if democrats controlled the house and senate again they sure would try to ban it.
They are just trying to push their agenda.
