A new mold of an Ohio fish with gills closed. This is actually a more accurate representation of a bass, instead of jacked up moth and gills. Whatcha think?

I prefer a mold with the bass having the mouth open and gills flared.

I like the closed gills. I've got a skin mount of my PB caught in 96. Closed gills, and closed mouth circling a stump. It's still one of my favorite mounts I've seen.

Getting a mount like this takes the fun out of it. Most people who see mounts aren't fisherman so they see this and go...."Cool...That's a fish"....but with the presentation of gills flared and mouth open they go "HOLY COW THAT'S A FISH!"

This seems way more accurate to a bass in its natural habitat. I think the goal of some people's mounts is to be awe inspiring, which the traditional way may do a better job of.
I guess it depends who you're making it for. I think it looks really nice.

I like the gills closed but not the mouth position. I have a closed mouth and gills mount that is with a five fish limit mount I had done and it really adds the the mount.

I agree it looks more natural, but I think I'd still prefer it with gills flared and mouth wide open, about to engulf a big bluegill.

Thanks for comments, Most like the mouth wide open and gills flared. This person wanted it this way. There are so many "standard fish available, I like different things that are not so common. I have closed mouth molds also, not for everyone but many like them. I agree that it needs to depict what the fish is doing, this one will be looking at a jig on the bottom "thinking" about eating it. Thanks again!

Here is a link to underwater pictures. https://www.google.com/search?q=underwater+largemouth&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwie4KTyq9nKAhXDpB4KHYPcAj4Q_AUIBygB&biw=1280&bih=588#imgrc=y4bsJXo5XP4AZM%3A The draw to bass mounted mouth wide open is because they are "largemouth" bass. I occasionally like to depict accuracy in a natural setting. This fish is missing the background so it does not appear natural. Reality is that Bass unless fighting a lure or yawning, never open the mouth and gills at the same time, most fish are "suction" feeders with opposite actions of the mouth and gills to create a vacuum cleaner effect. That being said as fisherman, we like what we like! That's why most of my fish are open mouth and gills.
