Here's the scene:
You have a clever little drone sitting on a equally clever detachable landing pad mounted to the top of your 250 Yamaha. You know there're some really big mommas breeding in those acres of weeds and you too are in heat. You want that bass. You can feel her sucking up that crawdad jig and kicking up your personal best by a couple of pounds in the process. Like everything else in your boat you use all the tools at your disposal. So you launch the drone...
The drones are coming...the drones are coming...
What if the white light is just some kind of cosmic fishing hole and God loves us because we taste good.

It would be unethical, and maybe illegal.

It would be unethical, and maybe illegal. There's nothing unethical or illegal about it. I'd like to hear an explanation of how it's unethical. It's not something I'd ever do but how do you get to it being unethical? It's likely a lot better for the bass to use a drone to comb thru the areas they spawn than it is to cruise thru with a trolling motor running and thrashing stuff up, scaring the fish, and ruining beds. Every time you cause a fish to abandon a bed with eggs on it you're effectively killing bass. To be honest, I'd bet someone out there is already doing this.

Its just a new tool that might work for the purpose your talking about. I'm thinking that light refraction and the fact that bass like concealment could make it less useful than a good pair of Ray-Bans. On the other hand, I could use Lidar to up my game...

I could sit here in Dallas drink beers and send a drone to Toledo to find my lunker on a bed. I'm down with this concept.

Even if you use a drone you still have to troll to get to that spot and will tear up stuff anyways. I have no problem bed fishing but many argue fishing for one and pulling it off the bed is just as devastating to the bass.

I wasn't looking for a pissing match really, I was looking for an explanation. But if you'd rather act like a pouting child, have at it. I don't really care.

A drone interfaced with GPS could show you all the beds around you and mark them so you could navigate right to them. With the right software, you could probably even get an estimate on the size of a bass.
The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach
