1. Just purchased my new / used boat. The 2007 Minn Kota Power Drive 70# thrust motor has a foot control problem. I have it working enough to check the operation but unsure if I care for the way it is deployed / retracted. Maybe I don't understand how to master it... It seem difficult to get unlatched and sliding on the shaft then getting it back on board takes more effort than I think it should. IDK. Option one: buy a new foot ($100) and deal with it or Option two: Replace with a new / different trolling motor.
2. Also - The Driver graph / finder (Lowrance X96) will power up I'm thinking. The backlight comes on when initially powered but nothing shows on the screen. I get a beep when I press one of the buttons but see nothing on the screen.
Any help / advice would be greatly appreciated.

sounds like the x96 is bad. On the trolling motor, the foot pedal has nothing to do with the stow and deploy. To deploy, you just unlatch the motor and push it off the end, holding onto the shaft under the head. The weight of the lower unit carries it down. When stowing, pull up on the shaft under the head and the unit will tilt toward the cradle. When you get the lower unit up to the cradle, it will snap in place. John
