I agree with 361V and lagoon78. I think the 805 CB RM is perfect for the 10XD. I think rod is just slightly heavy for the 6XD, but perfect for 10XD. People argue with me, but I don't think 10XD pulls too much more than 6XD.

I know most prefer a slow reel for cranks, but I'm on the Clint Wright school of thought faster reel to get it down deep, then you can reel slower.

I started throwing the 10XD in April of 2013. I went through half a dozen rods trying to find that perfect action, length, power, castability, big-fish-fighting bend, ability to crank all day without wearing you out, etc., etc., etc.

I never found that perfect rod so I designed one.

Hook Spit Performance Rods was gracious to let me design the rod with all the positive features of the rods I had tested. It truly is the perfect combination of all the features listed above that I and my buddies were looking for.

The rod is a tournament-legal 8'-er and has an extra long handle that you can place under your arm / against your side so that all the pressure is taken off your wrist. You can throw that huge crank all day with little to no fatigue compared to the other rods I was trying.

We chose a blank that allows you to play the really large bass without losing many like we were experiencing with the other rods.

The extra length allows you to throw the 10XD or other large cranks so much further than other rods. That is a key factor when cranking. You want the bait in the strike zone longer. A shorter cast makes the bait spend more time right to the optimal depth or coming back toward the surface at the end of the retrieve.

Several TFF members have bought and are using this rod.

If you want one or have any questions feel free to send me a PM.

I actually throw an A-rig on this rod and you'll be shocked at how well this rod handles it. It loads extremely well and throws the A-rig further than other rods I've tried.

I even throw a chatter bait on it. You normally wouldn't think about throwing a chatter bait on an 8' rod, but it is surprisingly well suited for that application.

Keith Combs series KCMBC710M-7'10 https://www1.powertackle.com/products/ro.../kcmbc710m-7-10

These two are both excellent deep crank rods good for 10XDs and 6XDs

David Fritts model from Lews. Reasonable price and a soft tip so you do not lose fish.

A couple of months ago I got a Kistler KLX 7-11 10XD rod. I find it works for frogs, medium swim baits and big cranks like the 10 XD.

I was just wondering what rods did you test out while doing your analysis for the perfect 10XD rod?
