Looking at getting a new truck and have been looking at a 2016 nissan frontier 4door v6 desert runner. Does anyone already have this truck and have you towed your boat with it? I have a zx225 skeeter and im not so much worried aboutthe power to tow the boat! just stopping the boat. I do have trailer brakes that work.
Any thought are appriciated!

Don't have one, but with trailer brakes you should be good to go.

Just make sure the Nissan is rated for the GVW of your boat and trailer.

the vehicle is rated up to 6500 pounds towing with the V6. just worried about stopping, not so much pulling,,,the dang boat is bigger than the truck. The surge break work ok i guess but its just the front two tires i think on the trailer (tandem. Only time i new they realy worked was when i locked up my current truck and they locked up also.

I would say it depends on how far you plan on pulling your Skeeter. Ask the dealer if you can test the new truck with the Skeeter behind it. I did that with my current boat with a Jeep Grand Cherokee and was glad I did. I'm sure you have heard the phrase "The tail wagging the dog" well that's exactly how it felt. Went with a larger tow vehicle and am glad I did. You have a very valid point on the spotting ability of the small truck. IMOA.......larger truck or smaller boat.

Or I'd take the boat to the dealer and hook it up and give it a real test drive

Tacoma is a much better truck. I have a heavier than average 18' Ranger and have been towing with Tacomas for 7 years now. Only time I have really had a problem stopping I was towing with my F150. Not sure about the engine in the 2016 but I can pass on 2 lane roads with no problem when I need to. Since I have owned this boat for 30 years I have towed with a lot of different vehicles.
