Any tips on different ways to peg a bullet weight? I've tried the toothpick method and didn't care for it too much. I would ideally like to use a small rubber peg like the Decoy Texas Lock, but my local Academy and Gander Mountain don't carry anything similar and I'm not paying $7.00 shipping for a $4.00 item on Tackle Warehouse.

The Academy Pegits are fine. Long tooth pick type with a slit in the flat head for the line to track to the center of the weight. I like them better than the rubber stops that go in front of the bullet because they come through heave cover better without the little rubber ball.

Wait, you can actually get on Tacklewarehouse and ONLY order pegs?? That is some serious self control or some serious inefficiency. One of the two.

Buy some very small clam weights Crimp just above the bullet weight, works great Allows you to use a smaller billet weight as well

Actually it's as simple as being a completely broke college student...otherwise that website could get me in some major trouble

Really good stuff guys...I seriously appreciate the help. My original winter plan was to make myself only use jigs until Valentine's Day-ish, but I figure flipping a pegged craw into bushes is close enough to not count as cheating.

gpbassbuster I sure didn't see 'em, and I got an employee to help me look and he couldn't find them either. Either they don't have them, they were out, or we're both blind

Of the four Academies near me, only one carries them somewhat regularly. If there are good employees/managers at your academy, ask them to order some for the shelves.

Water Gremlin makes a Bull Shot split shot in 1/32 and 1/16oz weights that works in a pinch bullshot This method works (pulling strands of jig skirt through weight) as a last resort
