Just got to lake Fork and noticed it's down 5 or 6 inches. Checked the SRA site and appears they have gates open and have drained out the extra plus a few inches more. Guess they expect more rain to take the levels up? First time I have seen them actually take the levels below full on purpose. Now at 402.82' and falling. Looked like two gates open Saturday when I passed the Damn.

Don't know why they do that but they been doing for years. It makes no sense to do that.

It's supposed to rain all weekend. In the dfw area Thursday to Sunday are all 70-100% chance of rain.

We're expecting 2-5 inches of rain over the weekend in Tyler, with maybe 5-7 inches from Mineola northward. Maybe they are planning for the influx of so much water.

No guarantee in the weather/rain. Next drought might start tomorrow. Keep your reserve until you have to much or at the very least start getting rain. IMO

IMO What, you don't think the weathermen are always right? LOL. You make a good point and I have thought the same thing a lot of times when lakes are being drawn down in anticipation of rain. What if you pull it down and it doesn't rain? It's a gamble for sure.

Weathermen are like fortune tellers/card readers/palm readers. IMO
I have to give them some credit they do the best they can and it is close at times.

Lake Fork receives more of it's rainfall from Oct-March than any other time of the year. That's why SRA draws down in the fall.
El Nino this year is one of the strongest, ever. Going to be in place through mid-2016. That means a very wet winter for the central and south central part of the country. The last two rain events were abnormal and due to El Nino and the jet stream shifting further south.
I'm sure SRA is planning for all of this in the draw down occurring now.
