You can lock out single gears or shift manually. That's one of the features I love. It's the first Ford I've ever had that on.

The 6.0 is and was a turd. I have a 15 year old cummins that will out pull a 6.0 Powerstroke.

When they put an ecoboost in a 3/4 or 1 ton truck I will consider one. Until that happens I have to wonder why they trust the old school v8's.

I towed that same trailer with the 5.9l cummins and it did do a better job, granted it was 2wd and smaller tires would have helped the 6.0L.

I think it's because of all the misconceptions out there. A LOT of people that think a small V6 has to rev to make power or that a high strung engine won't last 100k miles or that turbos have to be replaced every 70k miles. Maybe it just takes time to build people's trust? IDK, but the 6.2l is supposed to die off by 2017.

I can't even fathom how you could try to compare the 2. Yeah maybe a 7.3 would be out pulled; but not a 6.7.

No one said out pulled. I said outran. 2 completely different things. You're supporting my argument and don't even realize it- now that's funny!!!! The newer diesels would definitely launch better but as soon as the gas engines wound up they would be able to accelerate very quickly. Difference in torque and horsepower. The point is that the diesels are able to put out their power at a much lower RPM making them a better choice for pulling- JUST LIKE THE ECOBOOST. The EB is in the middle ground. It isn't capable of putting out anywhere near the torque of the newer diesels, but they can reach their peak torque at a lower RPM than an NA engine.

When someone that doesn't understand torque curves insults you, it's really a compliment, right? LOL

Dustman, you will not out run, out pull or anything else a new diesel vs the gas motors. Now if you are comparing an old diesel to a new gas motor then maybe yes. If that's what you meant then I did read it wrong (I am having to speed read due to time). The new diesels make awesome power all over the rpm range.

As far as the 'yota, people seem to love them; but I had one for a rental truck for a week. It sucked badly and got 12 mpg. I was glad to get my own truck back.

I view that statement as wrong. Compare it to something in its class the EB compared to a similar size diesel, the Ecodiesel and it performs similarly. If you made a 6.7L ecoboost I would bet it could hang with the diesel boys as well... maybe not in fuel mileage, but in power. That's not the difference in gas/diesel, that's the difference of almost 50% more displacement.

I'm rolling in a 2015 Ford F250 6.7PSD and just sold a 2013 F150 EB, so I've got a pretty good idea what kind of power each has. I also know that new gas engines such as the 6.4 Hemi are capable of producing very good HP numbers that say a lot about how they will perform in a racing scenario- but not as much when towing unless, once again, you like to rev. Obviously the TQ number means more to me- specifically where it is in the RPM range. But once you get the new gas motors revved up, they can accelerate pretty quickly with a heavy load even.

Maybe so, I have not had the chance to roll in the new Hemis, I know the Chevrolets are slugs though (even empty, ugly too).

So, anybody have any theories as to why the EcoBoost isn't in a 3/4 ton platform?

Let's see how many people actually understand torque curves. Question:How much torque is an 3.5ltr. EcoBoost engine putting out at 2500 rpms at say 45% throttle input? Pulling sat a 5000lb load. (We don't need exact numbers, just an estimate)

You must be blind in one eye and can't see out of the other, the GM's are the best looking trucks out there and the 6.2 I have is certainly not a slug, besides that they are the top selling full sized trucks this year at least through October.

I think Ram does a better job of polishing turds.

I think the GM's look sharp myself. I also think that 6.2 is a beast. Only problem is you have to buy an upper trim level to get it. For those not wanting to spend thousands on a trim package to then have the option to get an upgraded engine, the 5.3L is unfortunately the only choice, and it is somewhat lethargic.
