Welcome to the Forum Flying-Fish. Sorry no one responded with some help for you and the Kids. I thought we would bump it just to see if someone has taken their kids recently and can give advice.
Knowing your area and boat or bank fishing would really help get a response. Hope you get the kids out there today and catch some fish. Most of your area city lakes will have Blue Gill and etc. for them to catch on worm and bobber rigs.

Find out where the TX State Parks release the rainbow trout. They are most always released in urban settings. Pick the pond that they are released in and there will be other fish in them as well. I know of some in the Hurst and Colleyville and Denton area that are included in those release lakes. When my kids were small took them to Chisum Park, the one off Hurstview, and then to Colleyville. WE caught small bass and catfish on worms and hot dogs.

The best bass bite out there is no doubt a top water bite. Nothing beats the adrenaline rush of a good explosion.

Thanks guys, I didn't think of that! LOL I have a boat and used to fish all the time, we live in west fort worth. I was just looking for the best lake to get bit on, not asking for secret tournament info just where we are not wasting our time. Was at Eagle mountain one evening before Day Light savings but it was turning over

flying - maybe re-post with the topic "where to take kids to get bit, fw area" or something like that. i think it would get the attention of the west-side boys who would be more than happy to help. since the spring floods there's been a lot of chatter on here about how many small aggressive fish are in some of those ponds from lewisville to gv and west of there - if you are taking kids there's nothing better than getting on schools of aggressive spots or small LMBs.
if you were east i would say go to bob sandlin, it is absolutely loaded with small, hungry, aggressive fish everywhere you go. but that is a haul from W-FW.
Good luck!

Just go to Joe Pool and throw a lipless crank up in the creeks. They have been pushing bait fish up them for a few weeks. The floods have made it slow down some but its still good. Once they turn on you can catch 30 in an hour pretty easy and I'm sure your kids would enjoy that. Thanks guys, I didn't think of that!
