G. Loomis IMX Swimbait rod The 904C SWB is a killer rod for giant crankbaits. It's got the right amount of backbone and tip with tons of sensitivity to follow. I can't say enough about this rod. Shimano Calcutta D I use the 200 series and it pairs very well with the rod that I mentioned. It's a 5.7:1 gear ratio so it'll definitely help get those baits down deep without wearing you out. It also holds a lot of line, so long-lining a crankbait is a breeze. Sunline Structure FC As far as line, I use 18# Sunline Structure FC. SUPER SENSITIVE! This line is easy to deal with and it's brutally strong. It was specifically designed for deep structure so you know it's gonna work well for giant crankbaits. Happy casting!

TFO TFG SRC 795-1 it has just the right parabolic bend to launch those big baits with no effort. They have a long solid cork handle for comfort, and can handle baits 1-4oz. I have a couple for sale at a great price $125. Pm me if interested!

I use a Dobyns 806 10xd rod with a Diawa crazy cranker reel. I use 15lb. Flouro cuz of its sinking quality.

I like a long 7'11" - 8' rod. Something with back bone but still that typical crankbait rod feel. The length just helps launch that big bait there. Personally, I use a Dobyns 806CB and love it. I also use a very slow reel so you arent killing yourself reeling in that bait all day.

It all depends on how much you want to pay.....I use an old Calcutta 100 (all new bearings and smoothie drag system, installed) and a BPS Crank'in rod...7'11" medium heavy....works great....I started using a 7' medium action rod.....the 10XD kicked my butt......with the m/h rod.....no problem....

I have a 13 fishing Envy 7'11 Crankenstein with a BPS PQ reel at 5/1/1 gear ratio. Makes casting a big bait really easy with out wearing you wrist out on the cranking it down. Great Set Up IMO

This is kind of my thought with crankbaits. You don't need an expensive rod like you do with jigs or swimbaits. I use a BPS crankin stick also and it works very well.

805 Dobyns Champion, Lews BB1 5-1 gear ratio, 15# test Invizx, 12-15 McCoys Mean Green, or 10#P-Line CXX. You can launch a 10XD a long way with that set up and it is easy to crank in also.

Impulse Rods makes a nice Glass Composite rod in 7'11" - I have one in Med/Hvy for a 5/6XD and 1 in Hvy for deeper. Both are surprisingly lightweight and sensitive, I can throw them all day and they cast a mile. Check out impulserods.com .
