I put braid on a spinning reel and it pulls off the reel (spins on the spool) when the bail is closed?? Why?

Probably need to wind a few layers of monofilament on the spool first and tie it to the braid before spooling on the braid.

I put a piece of Duct tape on the knot (and spool) prior to loading the line. Maybe it did not hold?

Put a base of mono on the reel first. This will keep the braid from spinning on the reel and you won't be wasting high dollar braid that will never be used. Problem solved.

I use some mono and then tie it to my braid. I also use electrical tape on my other reel.

that can happen on a bait caster also. with a full spool of braid, it can spin on the spool.
Thanks,
