I'm sure this subject has been beat to death but what Maps chip should I get for fishing Toledo, Rayburn, Fork and Palestine. I have a Lowrance HDS9 Gen 2. Also will the Lance Vick Boatlanes download be worth the extra$$? I have been limping by with the stock Lowrance maps and Navionics Iphone app for 6 months and after a couple trips to Rayburn I think it's time.

I have the Navionics Chip in my Lowrence and it works great for Palestine. Has all the contours and everything you need. I run with the depth gauge live time so I can see large changes in the depths - especially in Palestine. I like it. Don't have any other add-ons other then that - I think its worth it. Good luck

I use Lakemaster in the birds and Navionics on an iPad. Both are good, and both have different features that are better or worse than each other. I like the GUInon the iPad. Very easy. The birds are a PITA to zoom and reload. Also, at times, the maps on the birds are too small if I am splitting the screen up with DI/SI/map. And the other two screens are mounted on the bow. So they are only used when trolling.

My assessment? Any map is good enough. Any map is way better than none. Any map is limited by the hardware using it.

Thanks for the help. I purchased the Navionics Hotmaps Platinum. Hoping I don't run into any issue updating the maps and installing them onto my Lowrance. Anyone know if you can use the 3D maps on the Gen 2 touch??
