I have heard a couple of people talk about the wagon wheel in pool 4 and was just wondering where exactly that was located? Also has anyone fished the river lately?

The Wagon Wheel is the first backwater area that you come to when traveling north of the bridge/boat ramp at Coushatta. It is on the west side of the river. Be careful when going into this area. I don't know what the water levels are but there is a rock jetty at the mouth that sometimes gets submerged that can be treacherous.

I was getting ready to post a question about all of the named backwaters. Is there an actual map of all of those or some general information regarding what each one is? Navionics doesn't seem to have it on the web app.

Slim- Pool 5 is the Shreveport/Bossier pool. Pool 4 starts above Coushatta and runs down to roughly Grand Ecore than Pool 3 starts. Pool 5- Ninock, McDades, Whitehouse, Bee Hive, Do not Dredge, Caspiana, Port lake(Red River South) Pool 4- Sullivans, School Bus
Nice map from David.

Most all the back waters stay cleaner then the main river, some of the back waters maybe alittle dingier then others but not muddy

We fished down there last week. Running is alright, their still dredging some places. We fished pool 3 and 4. Caught a good amount of fish the better ones came south on pool 3 near colfax, and on a few wing dams.
