Hi all, I've only posted a few times on TFF as I had little to contribute and I'm not one of those who wants to post just to log keystrokes. Finally bought a boat and we are down here in Del Rio. We bought a 20' deckboat (wife mandated the kids and her need to be able to have shade...) and I'm shopping for a trolling motor and already have a small fish finder on it. I was hoping to fish for white bass (as I know fishing for bass on Amistad in this boat will be tough).

I was wondering if anyone had some tips and spots for the whites. I know during summer they will do deep off the channels and points, I just wasn't sure how deep. Water temp is 83-85 right now. Also, at what water temp would the whites start to come to the surface? I spent 20 years chasing whites on Lake Belton with my dad so I'm keen on the baits and techniques, just looking for some pointers on fishing Amistad for them. Really want to get my kids on fish.

Thanks in advance.

I've never seen a post on here re whites on Lake Amistad. Hope someone who is familiar with Amistad will see and respond.

I have never fished Amistad. Fishing for white bass there should not be too different than Belton. Look for points and humps 15-35 feet deep and watch for surface action. Stripers may be lurking in the same spots.

We stay on the Devils river up at Ruthys, we have always had luck heading up the devils river, the night fishing with light is usually outstanding once the ghost minnows arrive, during the day we had luck with any white colored crank bait trolling.
