Spider Jig,
I buy the old military Proppers from Tactical Gear, an internet source. They come in 100% cotton, have tons of pockets like all the others, long pants and shorts, too, as I recall. I buy the long pants but they have tie offs down at the ankles and can be loosened and rolled/pulled up to around the knee. In the sun, if they get wet, they dry out in a few minutes.
You can go belt-less as they have the finger pulls on each side of the waist to hitch up the pants to a desired tightness around the waist.
During the winter, they are baggy enough to wear sweatpants underneath them.
I love 100% cotton so I am biased over the other fabrics.

I also use the Columbia convertible pants. I got them long too to cover my feet better. I wear them 99% of the time and I kayak a few times a week. They dry quickly, are easy to convert to shorts and keep me cool in the blazing heat. The back pocket just came unsealed after 3 years of carrying my big [censored] leather wallet, but it's an easy fix.

Gander Mountain convertibles are great, and you can catch em on sale frequently for less than $30. They also come in tall sizes.

I like the Cabela's Guidewear series. Nice lightweight pants that are SPF 50 and water beads right off of them.
