Wondering how many people have issues with throwing away plastic jigs after they've been used "without" pinching/biting the head off? In other words...how many people are cheap like me and wind up with a very large backlog of plastics that we can't seem to ever fish out. blush

I will keep a jig until it absolutely won't stay butted up against the jighead.

I got a place to replenish the baits fairly easy but it's hard to break old habits. I see no reason to throw a perfectly good bait in the hull once it's worn a bit. I bite the worn part off and stick it back on the jig head. Always good for a few more.

I think we all do some what but I do it with new ones if I think a shorter jig will help. Also the tube type jigs I cut the head off and fish it with a collar type jig hook it stays on better and does not tear up as bad when fish hits it.

What made me think about it was a comment on another thread about how most artificial baits catch more fisherman than fish.
As a result -- we wind up with a large number of plastics in the box, but in spite of the overstock, we'll still fish a plastic a while, and then put it back in the package (or reuse bin) if its not totally chewed up.
Unless you're fishing quite frequently you'll ultimately wind up with way more tackle than you can ever fish out unless at some point you start throwing away jigs after each use whether you catch anything on them or not, which ultimately (for us married fellows) winds up being a discussion of why we need to buy anymore jigs. argue smile

I'll drop a rigged torn up plastic, over the side set about 7 to 10 ft. down and secure that rod while fishin another and as the boat pitches I can catch one to two each trip.

I plead the 5th.

I don't want a visit to my doorstep from black helicopters carrying men dressed in black suits, ties and sunglasses who are part of the manufacturers mafia!
