How do I siphon the gas out of the boat's tank? Bad year for boating/fishing, can't make enough time to get on the water and burn the gas that's been in the tank since February fill up. Want to get it out and refill with fresh gas. Fill tube has a sort of S-shape to it so there's no way I can get rigid tubing/pipe to bottom of tank. I've tried length of garden hose and two sizes flexible clear plastic tubing but could only get a couple gallons out. I figure there's another 20-25 still in there.
Fishing, a man knows a serenity of soul and peace of mind that he finds in doing nothing else, and it makes no difference whether or not he catches anything. The mind of a true fisherman is not on petty subjects.

Disconnect fuel hose from the motor side, install an electric fuel pump and connect to your battery with clips.. If an electric pump is not available extend motor end of fuel hose over the transom to a container and pump the bulb to start gas coming out, watch it close.
The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch them without doing anything. Remember what He has done and remember that He is not done yet!-- GOD IS GOOD

I know Gary has probably done it a thousand times... But, I do NOT recommend using an electric pump siphoning fuel. Way too much risk. Go to auto store and buy a manual pump and then get enough hose to reach the bottom of the tank. Good luck. Safety first!

easiest way is to just unhook from engine and use the bulb to start the flow, I have done this a few times and works great. kinda slow but works.

Dammit, why didn't I think of just disconnecting the fuel line. Too simple a solution for an old man.

As said before...disconnect the hose from the motor and use the pump to get fuel started. Drain it off the back of the transom into an approved container and pour it over into your vehicle. Repeat as needed. That will allow you to add fresh gas to your boat tank when you are ready to refill.
