Haven't been fishing in about a year (waiting for some water in the lakes) so my question is how safe is Tawakoni now with the flooding? I would probably put in at Holiday and fish mainly the Dam area. Thanks for any tips - I miss fishing!

As safe as it gets. Not saying you can run around with cranial rectal inversion syndrome though.
Semper Fi This Veteran heavily medicated for your safety. Keep me fishing and all will be well.

Have been out quite a bit lately, should be good to go. Bout 2 feet over the spillway... Good luck!

The trees are under water. If you don't have them marked on your electronics or know where the are stay away from the middle of the lake.

Thanks Duece, I don't normally get uplake to the trees. I have a small 16' CC so I tend to stay within a couple of miles of the dam if I put in at Holiday.

Well.......turned out to be a frustrating day! Got to the lake about 10:00 and put in at Holiday. As I am on the ramp launching the boat cranks but wont turn over. Look back and the gas line connecter to the motor has popped off. Would not re-engage, some little metal part is broken off. Pull back up the ramp and head 20 minutes to Quinlar and picked up a new connecter at O'Reilleys (they dont have them at the one in Wills Point) So almost back to Holiday when Bam!!! A blowout on one of my trailer tires, first time in 40 years of boating.. I had checked the pressure on both this morning and they were fine. So I pull into a neighborhood and start jacking up the boat -- but my bottle jack wont extend all the way for the tire to clear the ground. I have used this jack at home on the boat and never had a problem. So a noce guy stops and asks if I need anything and goes to his house and brings back a jack. I got the spare tire on and headed back to Holiday. Back on the ramp again and cranking & cranking, wont turn over. Checked the kill switch cord, only had about a gallon of stabilized fuel in the tank mixed with 8 gallons of new gas. I noticed that the primer bulb never got hard as i was squeezing it and commented on that to a couple of guys. So I pull back up the ramp and give up. Not my day. Fished off the bank for about 30 minutes and headed back home. So I Googled the primer bulb thing and found thet the bulb shouold be positioned vertically so the check valve in the bulb works properly. As I look at my boat the original installation has the bulb laying horizontally with a bit of a downward angle. It only had enough slack in the line to let me slightly raise the bulf from horizontal, but as I did this the bulb got hard. I will get some fuel line hose and add a piece so I can orient the bulb vertically and try it at home with a muff (I need to buy one, along with a bigger jack, and a new tire or two. Hope your day was better than mine - life of a boater.

Man that's a bummer. If you are a boat owner and go often enough this kind of day will happen sooner or later. It will surely test your patience.
I've never heard of the vertical primer bulb thing. I've owned boats for 30 years and never heard that or has it ever been an issue. That's a new one on me.
Hope you figure it out. I may be on Tawakoni Saturday poking around on the pontoon.

Thanks, I am thinking its a fuel line problem somewhere, possibly leaking air at some of the clamps? Its all original with the new boat from about 10 years ago. I probably should replace the whole fuel line and bulb.

I will say that the bathroom overhaul at Holiday is great, much needed, and I had the pleasure of using it three different times - while not fishing today!
