Going down for vacation to visit family and taking the boat and suggestions on bass fishing places, or has the rain washed it all away down there? Thanks for any help.

If you're looking to freshwater fish in the immediate Angelton area, I think you're out of luck, unless you found a private pond to fish. You would be better off fishing Saltwater. I would check with your relatives. Now you could find a few lakes along the way down between Dallas and Houston to fish. Maybe Conroe would be your best bet, or Lake Raven at the Huntsville State Park. I'm southwest of Houston, and just do not know of any public places for freshwater fishing spots near Angleton. You could check on www.2coolfishing.com and ask. A lot of people on that site live in that area.

Well, that was pretty much what I was gonna say.....
On the one hand, the area around Angleton is a bass fisherman's heaven, on the other, its nearly all private water and access is either restricted or you havta pay.
Most of it is also "small water" with a myriad of lakes and reservoirs ranging in size from less than an acre to around 200 acres or so, a few are bigger, but not the tens of thousands of acres of larger reservoirs. Some are set up with boat ramps, most are not.
So, maybe if you "know somebody real high up" in the energy, food service, real estate, petrochemical, or farming/ranching biz, you may be able to wrangle some sort of invite into some of the really nice places around here.
Alternatively find a member of one of the several fishing membership clubs to fish one of those places. I don't know if any do any "day fishing". Some are member owned, some are not. Some are really good places to fish.
The other thing is to concentrate on fishing the estuaries around Angleton. Redfish, flounder and trout, among other things are in the bayous, bays and waterways of the area. When I had time to fish I did a lot of that in Chocolate Bayou and Bastrop Bayou, both close to Angleton. There are ramps for boats, but you need to be really careful navigating the area as the water is mostly shallow with a lot of reefs. Also easy to get turned around and lost. The water can get rough quick, and storms come up really fast in summer.

Ditto. I thought Angleton is so close to San Luis Pass and you're going freshwater fishing??? Oh well, there's a bunch of spots but they're north and west of Houston.

Nothing real close, but South of Victoria you have Coleto Creek, and kinda Northwest of Victoria you have Canyon Lake.
