Haha It's just gonna be a big rain. Nothing crazy. Dude they're predicting another 8 inches in the metroplex, on average. That means there'll be places that get 10+ inches in two days. . .thats harder rain that we had last month. . .and there's literally no where for it to go. This is going to be catastrophic.

With the water table soaked, it will not take much to flood.

I heard this a few years ago and we got a shower...not the huge deluge they were predicting. It's a guessing game for them, no matter what the computers predict.

I'm not saying it's going to happen this time, but years ago during the drought one of the hurricanes was supposed to bring 8-10 inches of rain to East Texas. We basically got nothing but a heavy drizzle. As I sat and watched out the window I told my wife, "I've played golf in heavier rain than this."

But - when the computers predict, they also say how much the margin of error likely is. Often it's fairly high. This time all of the major computers are predicting almost the exact same path and rainfall amounts. That equals a very accurate forecast - usually.

You explained it with the highlighted section, that system died out when it made landfall because of the drought, there was no moisture to feed it. That won't be the case this time.

Still roughly up I-35? I think earlier one of the models was showing it would go more NW and the bullseye of heaviest rain would be in west central Texas. I wish it would happen that way.

Don't tell me...as 10-15 inches of rain falls in and around Corpus Christi and a catastrophic 100 year flood is taking place, the people who run Choke Canyon will open the gates wide open so they can provide fresh water from the lake to the estuary.
Sorry, couldn't resist.
On a serious note, thunderstorms are dumping rain on the watersheds of Ivie and Hubbard Creek. It won't be enough to cause the lakes to rise significantly, but maybe they will at least stop for a while the slow fall that has started.

Essentially any rain that falls east of 98W is doing nothing but harm now.
