I haven't fished Cedar Creek in a long time and not at all since it has refilled. I drive over and passed CC going to some place else. When I was fishing it, it used to frustrate the [censored] out of me and I went home with my tail tucked between my legs more than once.
I only live about 30 minutes from CC and would like to learn to fish it. I also live about 30 minutes from Hubbard but with all of the recreational boating there, I stay away from that place. I have caught fish at CC but mostly all small ones, don't remember that I have ever even caught many 3 pounds or better there. I don't plan on fishing any tournaments there and giving my money away. Any help or advice that you might have to share would be great, not asking for specific locals or knock out baits, just general information would be helpful. I know there is no substitute for time on the water but it is hard to keep going back when that time is unproductive.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions that you might have.

Cedar Creek to me is one of the more consistent lakes in Texas. Just think how many tournaments are on that lake almost every weekend. After all that, it still produces year after year. Amazingly consistent. Clear and caney are good places to start. Lot of fish released in that area.

Its well worth fishing. Love that lake. Any starting point suggestions? North or south or somewhere in between? This time of year I would just start at the dam at daylight and then transition to points along the mainlake and then just start pounding docks. You will begin to see certain docks taht always seem to produce. The bridges are good for a few fish as well. If you are expecting a lot of 4lb plus fish then it might not be the lake you will enjoy. Its great on numbers though with some good ones thrown in.

I don't fish any lake a consistent bases. But Cedar Creek is usually one I can do OK on. I have only been going down there once or twice a year for the past decade or longer. This time of year a few years back we did good throwing a deep diver in about six foot of water with the boat sitting out in deeper water. We stayed south of Lynn all day

30 minutes from Cedar Creek means you're only 45-50 from Athens. Way more consistent for me than CC. Just my .02 though!

Docks & boat houses will probably give the most consistent results. Skippin under might be tough now...
