I recently bought a 2012 zx20 with a 250 sho. I am getting about 68 mph. What should I be getting out of this boat. I am running a 26 pitch prop with seven dots on jackplate at 6000rpm. Was at 8 dots with jackplate but dropped down today to see what it would do.

Did you see any change after dropping it a dot? If not drop another dot.

Be sure to give each drop several different conditions before trying again.
- Water chop
- Heat index. (Early Morning, Mid Day, Late Afternoon)
- Different altitude lakes
- Unload the boat completely and give it a run. Then load it back up. Using passengers is a fast and easy way.
- Redistribute your weight in the compartments. If heavy stuff is up front move it to the back compartments and etc. Again a empty boat and moving passenger around is the fastest way to learn weight distribution.
- If running it by yourself; move an equal amount of weight to the Port side compartments.
- If you are a tournament fisherman and have full live wells and full fuel then this is the way to run it even when working on your weight distributions.

Record all your test and information with each run and each movement of the jack plate. If nothing seems to be making a great difference then it is the PROP.. Along with your information send it in to Steve's Props.. He will fix the problem.

Nailed it on the head. A lot of trial error is the best way to figure out your boat performance. I have 2013 ZX w/250 and by myself I can't hit 71-72, however, I'm also 6'3" and 300 pounds. Not to mention if you have 2 power poles like me, that also adds a little weight; batteries and fuel are a major weight issue as well, if not the biggest.
