Wow! Marabou goes everywhere and flash is difficult to hold. I'd get three together and two would fall away. I'd pick up the two and lose another one. It was crazy.
On average, your heart beats 100,000 times a day. One day, one of those heartbeats will be your last. Then what?

Probably deformed enough to make a fish feel sorry for it and put it out of its misery.

Wet you fingers and run them over the marabou to make it easier to handle. It also helps if you don't have a fan on while your're tying jigs. Hackle is easier to work with and is why most tyers use it mainly. Marabou is the undisputed king of tail action once it hits the water though. Also, most of us stop the chenille at the point of the hook to save on chenille and to make sure that we don't fill the hook gap and interfere with our hook ups. That is a great first jig. Wait about a week or two and you will be at the level of most of us. It doesn't take long. Welcome to the addiction.

One other little tip you will need with marabou is don't have any kind of fan on in that room! Next get some of the little sheets your wife uses in the cloths dryer after she uses them. You can take the marabou feather before you use it and pull it through you hand with on of the sheets to take the static out. These will last a good while doing that! Just stack the barbules in a pile until you have enough to tie in, then cut the end you tying in so you don't need to cut natural ends off!
For your first, it look just fine! Good job!
Also just buy your self a can of high floss lacquer and mix about 50/50 with thinner to use when adding that drop of glue on the finish. I use MEK for my thinner, dries fast as heck and works! It will soak is super fast and you will never feel where it was put on!

Never worry about what your first jigs look like. After you tie a few just put them in the water and see what they will do. I have been tying over 50 years and the first thing I do is put it in the water. Run it around on top and down a little ways to see how it does. Also drop the rod down to see what the fall rate is. All of this you need to know to work the jig right. On tying the jigs try adding everything one at a time does help.

Nice job for a first tie, Maribou is IMO fun to tie once you get used to handling it. As far as flash, If I want two strands per side, I lay them on waxed paper side by side and scotch tape the ends togethter. Tie in the loose ends, then trim to length.
There are many ways to handle the material and once you play a while you will find what works best for you. You're off and running. Good job.

Finished my second jig. Might add a little more detail to the eyes.
