Looking for a good no power boat lake to fish close to home. I'm already tired of dealing with summertime idiots on Palestine.

Purtis Creek (no wake) immediately comes to mind.

Others to consider
Tyler State Park
Forest Park and Henderson City Lake

To widen your choices, you might consider finding lakes with places to drop in that are generally not easily accessible to big boats, or at least not to big boats moving around at high speeds. It levels the playing field so to speak. Most of the big east Texas lakes are going to allow full speed motoring . . . just owing to their physical size and what it takes to move around on them in a reasonable time. Brad

I fish Lake Fork a lot in my kayak. As mentioned above, I fish in locations where it is impossible for a power boat to create a wake among the trees. My favorite put in is at Hideaway Harbor.

Here in ET, you can also enjoy Naconiche, Welch, Tyler State Park, Daingerfield SP with minimal wake. I live by a reservoir outside Marshall, so I don't travel as much as I could, but we have a lot of small lakes here. I haven't been to Purtis, but it's next on my "new to me" list.

Nissley's recommendation for a natural high: kayak fishing
