I see alot of punch, dip, and dough baits that have garlic added and regular.Does the garlic make that much difference on a cheese based bait?

one you get them feeding they will bite jut about every thing chess alone breaks down in water putting a good send trail in the water you real dont need to add anything i have a little book my grandfather gave me it is baits he made and workd for him there were 3 pages of just plain cheese the1# they all had in common is there were melted down first then brot back with he used corn starch and corn mill to thinking it up to stay on the hook for one cast as it would fall off when you real it is. I am friends with of a friend who is a guid and only punch baits he he freshens his bait every 5 mins regurdless to keep the smell in the water one day to prove a point i chummed up some areas and i caught about 17 fish on onion prices yes fresh cut onions have bait that works is only pert of it no mater what you do or what you put in it if the fish are not there thy will not bite and there will be days when they will prefer chocolate over vanilla the thing is lear to know were the she will be you may fish a sop and only get a few few or nothing move 50 yrs and just kill them look and study they area as your fishing what makes that real old fish it cn be some thing as simple s over hanging brush lean to ue the wind when you cum to your advantage a catfish is a int tong and can smell long way off. a guy tole me if your not breaking hook off when your punch baiting then our not fishing i have no problem pulling my boats in to a bunch of stumps in waco

Here is my input on the matter for what is worth.
We folks who have aquariums with saltwater fish in them soak our food in garlic when we have problems getting a fish to eat. For whatever reason they will almost always eat food soaked in garlic when they would not have other wise. I along with thousands of other fellow reefers do this at one time or another. In many cases when a new fish is added he may starve him self to death. However back to the garlic soak on the food and you are good.......now we don't continue to do this as for it is linked to organ failure in the reef fish if used on a daily basis.

I don't see the need to mess up a good punch bait.
