Been wanting to start drifting for blues on conroe. Ive never done it before and am looking for advice on where to start. Thanks

Have you even seen it done? It would be a lot easier to understand if so. You'll need a couple drift socks, sometimes you can get away with just using one, but usually one off the front and one off the back is best for my boat.

Socks are to slow your drift to a target speed of .5 to 1 mph. Some like it faster/slower, I like right around .5 .

Good sturdy rod holders are a must, med/heavy rod that will load up good, circle hooks 6-8/0, 2oz no roll weight or slinky weight, Google Santee Cooper rig and watch some YouTube videos on it, 50# leader, 30# main line, and Snell knot your hook.

Try to find a bottom with depth changes, humps, drops, or channels. I'd stay less than 15ft and wouldn't be worried going as shallow as 3to5 ft . Rods are going to bounce while you drift, let them bounce, you'll know when you get a bite. Try to avoid drifting through too much brush and trash that'll cost lots of gear, sometimes you can't avoid it so bring extra.

That's how I do it anyway, like I said there's a lot of stuff on YouTube with way better fisherman than me.
