Drove by today around 10, water was being released pretty strong. lots of people there on the platform, saw a few fish caught, all drums or cat fish, did not see any crappie or sandies in the buckets.
Side note, I've caught lots of drums throughout the years, but never kept one. are they good eating? Do you fillet them normal?

They aren't bad, id take them over sandbass. They taste a lot like saltwater black drum.

They taste great. I didn't know how good they were until I finally cooked one. Now I keep them if I catch em. filet like sandbass or crappie.

I bought the foam body, the one in the middle, from Mr. Pockets years back. You may have to ask him how much he sells them for nowadays.

Those floats are unique products of Denison Dam striper fishing. The owner of the old bait shop came up with the idea.

The inserted weight itself may weights 2oz, 2.5oz, or 3oz. We use 3 feet to 6 feet leader, attached to the top of float, or to a swivel, tie a buck tail jig at the end of the leader. You can use crappie jigs. At Lavon Dam, lots people like to use tiny flukes.
