I am going fishing somewhere in the morning. I recently interviewed for a job at an agency that I really wanted to work for, I had three interviews for that job the last one was a week ago today. I got the word this afternoon that I was not selected for the position. It is a challenge when you are 50 or older to seek new employment opportunities. Thankfully I am not without housing, food, or any other the other life necessities, and most of all I am not without hope for a better tomorrow. God is with me as he is with you. I think I know just what I need, I need some water therapy preferably with a fish included. Onward and upward, today is almost over and tomorrow offers endless possibilities. Lets us all be grateful for our many blessings we share in this wonderful, wonderful, country we call home.

Well thank you TMJ, I am in a good place. I just poked my head outside to confirm what I was hearing on the roof, it looks like it might be a "rain" day of fishing. That's ok, I am well within driving distance of several barges should it continue till the morning. The only thing that I need to worry about now is how many fish do I really want to clean tommorow

Good luck with the fishing and the job hunt. I understand the need to clear your head from time to time. Fishing can certainly do that.

At least you do not have to deal with the rain for your morning trip.

Well thanks everyone for the well wishes. I am happy to report my previous beliefs that the fat lady had sung regarding the crappie spawn at BB were completely wrong. I went out this morning and for the first time this spring I took my bass fishing rod along with me because based on the last two weeks results, I had little reason to believe I would catch any crappie this morning. Well, within a few minutes of starting my day I realized there are still some crappie close to shore. I need a tutorial on hooking crappie that have taken the float under. I must have lost 4 or 5 fish that I connected with and lost after just a few cranks trying to bring them to me. But I did manage to catch 3 nice keepers and I had one throw back. But I came home with 8 crappie, and the biggest 4 were not caught by me but by a great fellow and top notch fisherman named Jerry. I met Jerry and two of his closes friends at the same spot about three years ago, we were all fishing for crappie that early spring. They are long time friends who had hunted and fished together for years. They are retired and man can those fellas catch fish. It is like a clinic watching them. Today it was just Jerry, and Jerry took me to school. I don't think I got out to the spot were we fish at all last year so it has been a couple of years since I last saw Jerry. That man not only caught the most fish and the largest fish, he gave me his fish to add to the ones I had caught. I asked him if he is ever on the TFF, he told me he has not joined but he reads the reports weekly. Jerry, this is my shout out to you. Thanks so much for a great day of fishing together, it sure was good seeing you again. Thank you so much for the fish, I measured the four largest ones you caught and they were all at around 12", they are on ice right now but several of them definitely appear to have eggs. Thanks again for the well wishes. And DFW was right, those crappie got to eat daily and thankfully there are still crappie to be found by shore anglers.

Esnow, you are absolutely right. Jerry is a humble and very generous man. Jerry and his friends were always good folks to share a bank with, they have some great hunting and fishing stories they have experienced over the decades. Jerry told me his age today, I could not believe the age he told me. This man is in good shape. We left at the same time, while walking the way back to the vehicles I found myself becoming winded trying to keep up with his pace. For a man who has more than two decades of age on me, he has energy that is hard to match. I thought I was going to have to ask him to piggy back me to the truck towards the end of our walk.
The man has a great demeanor, first class fishing skills, and most important he is old school friendly. He reminds me of the folks my grandparents had for neighbors way back 40 plus years ago in a much more simple time of life and in society.
