Just wanted to ask you guys a question about trucks with lifts and how it affects pulling your boat? I have owned trucks my entire life, just never owned one with a lift. I just bought a tundra, and hell as I sit here I can't remember if it has a 4" or 6" lift? Anyway, I did as much research online about lifts and there are some that say never get one because you have too many problems down the road, others say it doesn't affect anything as long as you take care of it. Which I do, I am OCD when it comes to my trucks. So I wanted to ask, for those that have trucks with a lift, have you ever had problems with it at some point? And for those that have lifted trucks and pull your boat, any trouble in that regard?

Not at all..... Get a drop hitch that distributes the weight of your boat on both axels (if tandem) and you'll be fine.

So I had a truck with a 7 inch lift. You should not have any mechanical issues with the truck because most lifts keep the correct geometry with the suspension. The only issue I ever noticed was while towing my boat. It was not the smoothest ride and you could feel the trailer a lot more. Hard to explain but my wife did not like riding in the truck when towing the boat. Ever since I have had my stock Tahoe, that bouncing feeling went away.
Just make sure you get a drop hitch.

NO problems at all, I have a 7 inch lift on a 2014 GMC Sierra with 35 inch Toyo mud tires and mine actually rides a little smoother pulling my boat, just make sure you get a drop hitch that keeps your trailer close to level.

The only real downside of lifted trucks other the lack of smooth ride is you tend to get a few more rock chips on your boat from the tires.

I use a 4" drop hitch. No issues towing other than my really small flat fenders sling everything everywhere. Lol. Keep the boat covered while towing.

Had a 7.5in on 35" M/Ts. The ONLY issue was fuel economy!

Thanks for all of the responses. I understand that having a lift and bigger tires will mean a less smooth ride and probably less fuel economy. I was just concerned with the mechanical side of things. The dealership is the one that put the lift on, so I am assuming as someone stated it will have all of the correct geometry. So as long as I keep up the normal maintenance I should be fine it sounds like. And I need to get the drop hitch.

Plus with a lift and bigger tires most people will think you are compensating...

I have a Ford F250 with 35s and a 4inch lift. A boat cover is a must if any water is on the road. Fishing the red river this weekend ran thru a muddy spot in the road, covered my boat in mud. I might want to revisit the boat bra idea, or a full front boat cover.

The deal is most people throw in a suspension lift, big tires and call it good. The correct way to do it is to return everything to the correct geometry such as the drive shaft angles, control arms, torsion bars etc. If that stuff isn't correct the parts will wear prematurely. Some kits have the parts to do it all but most don't. Also have to keep in mind the taller the tire the more it effects your gear ratios and braking power upgrading those is smart if running much bigger tires. Center of gravity is higher no matter what so towing will be sloppier, how bad depends on spring rates, shocks, lift height and tire size.
Lot of trucks are all show and no go to impress the flat bill hatters.
get a parts list and make sure everything I in there that needs to be in there
