When running big motor I wear and auto typ. When I stop it is placed on the sterring wheel so I can not forget to put it back on. I also make all guests on my boat wear one kids or adults does not matter.

If they don't like it then they can stay off my boat. But when fishing I don't enforce the rule since I don't wear it while fishing either.

Been bay fishing my whole life and lovin every minute of it! 2008 Kenner 2103 Vision

I ALWAYS wear a PFD and connect the kill switch when I plan to run the boat on plane. While the boat is at rest I almost always wear it these days, especially if the water is rough or there's a strong wind. The comfort of today's improved inflatable products and personal reflection prompted me to take up the habit while fishing and not just running on plane.

Most of the time, the PFD I use is an auto-inflatable Type II PFD with what I refer to as "bonus buoyancy" in that it provides 33 pounds instead of the required 15.2 pounds. This can improve keeping your head out of the water (or higher), especially if unconscious or injured.

The Type II PFD will usually roll an unconscious/injured wearer to a face-up configuration to avoid face immersion drowning. Type III may also do this (but with less certainty). This is why I prefer/use a Type II with 33 pounds of buoyancy.

I have certifications as a divemaster and rescue diver. I readily acknowledge that I can drown in the same circumstances of victims I searched for if I don't wear mine.

P.S.: There is no law saying that a "regular" vest must be onboard if you choose to use an inflatable vest - as long as that vest is rated as Type II or Type III. Also, you do not have to be wearing a Type II/III inflatable for it to "count". Any notion to the contrary is false info.

I wear mine any time big motor is running. I don't wear one while fishing unless I am offshore and the wind is up and its quite choppy. Then I will put on my Mustang auto inflate. I don't trust the auto inflate in a boating accident situation. To me there is a big difference being thrown from over falling out of a boat.

I always wear a life jacket with the kill switch connected when running big motor, I remove jacket and leave in driver seat while fishing. It is just like always wearing my seat belt when driving my truck....no exceptions.

It's on anytime the Outboard is Running. When waters cool I wear it while fishing too. Especially if by yourself.

100% of the time...

I do not allow anyone to step in my boat without one on !!!!

My boat...My rules... my friends know that if they refuse to wear one they can fish from the bank...

I also don't allow alcohol in my boat either !!!

95% of the drownings that I work are because of alcohol and no pfd...

+1 I hate to say it but unless I feel the water it too rough or a lot of people on the water or I'm really running the carp out of the boat I generally don't wear one either.
