I just got a slip for my toon at Scott's Landing on Lake Grapevine. My question is what should I use to bait my slip for the youngsters who want to catch some cats, but aren't old enough/ not enough patients for fishing for Blues out on the main lake? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Does soured corn float or would it sink to the bottom?

Sour some maze , they'll be into them real quick ! This. Fill 5 gallon bucket. About 1/2 way to the top. Add 5lb. block of Velvetta-Cheese.. Fill to 2/3rds. From the top. Seal tight. Place in full Hot Sun. Give it 'bout 3-4 wks. Stir. Pour off. The 'Gravey" into bottom of another 5gallon. Bucket. Then scoup out couple pounds of the solids. Buy some panty hose. Hang a leg of panty hose off far end of dock. Hang another panty hose. 1/2 full of sour. In the corner where you fishing. Take the. GRAVY. And pour along the bank. In front of Dock. Good-Luck.

Cottonseed cake in an onion or burlap sack with a brick or large rock. If you can't find cake at a local feed store cottonseed mill in an onion sack (also with a large rock) works just as well. We use the cake in burlap sacks to bait spots on the Brazos and these spots always have catfish on them.

Cool. Trying the easiest first Range Cubes and some Stubby's, If that doesn't work will try the cotton seed. When I went into the feed store and asked about the range cubes and my thoughts on catfishing with it, he said the same thing to try cotton seed. He also said they always keep it in stock. Thanks for the info

You're welcome. I'm not even sure why cottonseed works, to tell you the truth. It hardly smells like anything at all and certainly not what one would relate to a catfish bait. Maybe it sours quickly? I really have no idea why, but it draws in the cats for sure. Best of luck to y'all and especially the young'uns.

I have some "vintage" chum that you are welcome to if you are brave enough. I mixed it up about 4 or 5 years ago.
