Since it seems like there is a weekly topic on changing laws for tawak in particular I figured this bit of information should be shared albeit the info is greatly dated as most of the research was done in the 1950's however it gives a relative example where we as a state sit on catfish size ect compared to others and here's the info on splash's age as well

In the article it says blues hit sexual maturity in the south by size of 350-662 mm, which equates to about 13.75-26 inches long and 4-5 years old. Is a 13 inch catfish really that old? I would have suspected them to hit 12-13 inches in two years?

It's all about growth rates, think about how much a 20 inch fish weighs, which would be the average size for first year of maturity so roughly 5-6lbs most likely whereas some fish never get bigger than 10lbs even though they are 30 some odd years old

My experience puts a 20 inch fish about 3-4 lbs. 24" has been a pretty classic 6 lb fish for me.
