I just blew a cylinder in a 2002 Yamaha 225. In looking for an "affordable" option for repair, I found Texas Outboard Rebuild in Tool, Texas. Anyone have any experience with this shop?
Thanks

Took delivery on my rebuilds 2002 Yamaha 225 yesterday. Still about three hours of break in to go but I am very impressed with Paul and Texas Outboard Rebuild. 10 day turn around on a complete rebuild, up front pricing that did not change, 4 hours of break in at the shop and on the water testing/tuning to ensure the boat and moter were ready to go.
During my break in session yesterday, decided to stop in an area to make a cast or two. Pic below is the first cast with the new motor in place. Not saying the two are related, just a good day to have the bot back.

That's great. I keep hearing nothing but good about them. Would you mind telling how much it cost?

Did not have any block or camshaft damage. One blown piston. Every job is different but I will tell you that I saved well over $1,500 from the estimate at a certified Yamaha Dealer. Also forgot to mention a 4 year warranty. 2 years 100% parts and labor. Two more years at 50/50.

Paul and family are great people! I got my hpdi rebuilt last year and it's still running strong. Thanks to them getting me back on the water fast, I had one of the best tournament seasons I have ever had last year. looking forward to another one this year. This was the day after I picked up my boat.

I've heard nothing but good from them, and have had conversation with them about my rebuild. For my old 115HP 4-cyl, I was quoted about $2800 for a short block rebuild, or about $4000 if I took them the entire boat. I was going to go with them before choosing to just do it myself (which only cost me $900 in parts/machining, plus my own labor).
