Ketchn, I found out yesterday that the annual crappie gig at big mineral (texoma) will be on march 28. Lots of camping space, food, prizes and the entry is usually 30 bucks with a big fish pot that's 10bucks to enter. It's always been a good turnout with some guys from the forum and CAT showing up. Any kind of fishing goes, but the tourney is individual only, no teams. I'll probably have to start a separate thread for the tourney, but thought this May be a good way to get a bunch of forum guys together with minimal planning.

I've got a new Pro Angler rod/Pflueger President combo for Christmas that I REALLY need to break-in, so I'm as 'in' on this as it gets! Don't have a boat, so I am typically limited to the bank. Might be fun to see if everyone would be interested in doing a 'crappie-jig swap' while out there. Might be a good way to meet each other. Put 'em on our fishing caps, and walk around swapping jigs and saying hello. If it were possible to get a headcount on this shindig, might check to see if anybody has a trailer-mounted bbq pit they could haul out there. The attendees could all chip in beforehand on the meat and wood/charcoal costs. Add some bbq sauce and lots of pickles and onions and white bread, and you got yourself a mighty fine gathering right there. Heck, I need to go to this just so I can learn some tips from the seasoned crappie veterans. I'm pretty new to crappie fishing (1 spawn last Spring), so I'll take all the advice I can get. Can't wait. Scott in Flower Mound

The natural likes echo lake in Ftw. so are there any good spots for crappie bank anglers on Echo Lake ? or must I keep moving them heavy man hole covers on the storm drains here in town ?

Ketchn, you may have opened a can of worms here. It could be a very large turnout what ever lake you pick. I've been wanting to meet the people I see on here and put a face with a name. Except for those selfie people. I'm in where ever you pick!
